Core-spun yarn is generally made of synthetic fiber filament with good strength and elasticity as the core yarn, and is spun by twisting and twisting short fibers such as cotton, wool and viscose fiber. Core spun yarn has the excellent properties of both filament core yarn and outer staple fiber. The more common core-spun yarn is polyester-cotton core-spun yarn, which uses polyester filament as the core yarn and wraps cotton fibers. There is also spandex corespun yarn, which is a yarn made of spandex filament as the core yarn and other fibers outside. Knitted fabrics or jeans made from this core spun yarn stretch and fit comfortably when worn.

Its main purpose is to strengthen the cotton canvas and maintain the water repellency of the cotton fiber when it swells when exposed to water, and the use of polyester has tensile resistance, tear resistance and shrinkage resistance when it is damp in the rain. At this stage, core-spun yarn has developed into many types, which can be summarized into three categories: staple fiber and staple fiber core-spun yarn, chemical fiber filament and short-fiber core-spun yarn, chemical fiber filament and chemical fiber filament core-spun yarn. The core-spun yarn that makes more core-spun yarn is generally a core-spun yarn with chemical fiber filament as the core yarn and a variety of staple fibers to form a unique structure. The chemical fiber filament commonly used in its core yarn is polyester filament, nylon filament, spandex filament, etc. The outer staple fibers include cotton, polyester cotton, polyester, nylon, acrylic and wool fiber.

In addition to the special structure, the core spun yarn has many advantages, it can use the excellent physical properties of the core yarn chemical fiber filament and the performance and surface characteristics of the outer staple fiber, give full play to the characteristics of the two fibers and make up for their shortcomings. For example, polyester-cotton core-spun yarn can give full play to the advantages of polyester filament is cool, anti-crepe, easy to wash and quick-dry, and at the same time, it can give full play to the characteristics of good moisture absorption, less static electricity, and not easy pilling of outer cotton fibers. The woven fabric is easy to dye and finish, comfortable to wear, easy to wash, and bright in color and luster, beautiful and generous. The core-spun yarn can also reduce the weight of the fabric while maintaining and improving the performance of the fabric, and use the different chemical properties of chemical fiber filament and outer fiber, and use chemicals to rot off part of the outer fiber during the fabric dyeing and finishing process, and make a rotten fabric with three-dimensional pattern effect. The use of core-spun yarn, with cotton as leather and polyester as the core, is the most widely used, which can be used to produce student uniforms, workwear, shirts, bathrobe fabrics, skirt fabrics, quilts and decorative fabrics. An important development of core-spun yarn in recent years has been the use of core-spun yarn with a polyester core covered with viscose, viscose and linen or cotton-viscose blends in women's clothing fabrics, as well as corespun yarns coated with cotton-silk or cotton-wool blends, which are very popular.

According to the different uses of core-spun yarn, the main varieties of core-spun yarn are: core-spun yarn for clothing fabrics, core-spun yarn for elastic fabrics, core-spun yarn for decorative fabrics, core-spun yarn for sewing threads, etc. There are also a variety of spinning methods for corespun yarn: ring spinning, electrospinning, vortex spinning, self-twisting spinning, etc. China's cotton spinning industry mostly uses cotton ring spinning to spin core-spun yarn.
