Polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) is formed from dimethyl terephthalate (DMT) or terephthalate (TPA) and butyl glycol after esterification and condensation.
Due to its excellent resilience, mildew and mothproof, good crimping elasticity, antistatic and dyeing properties, PBT fiber has a large number of applications in elastic clothing such as swimsuits, sportswear, ski wear, jumpsuits, dance tights and so on.
The elasticity of PBT fiber is second only to spandex and better than nylon, while spandex is more expensive and poor light resistance is easy to produce yellowness, so it can completely replace spandex in some fabrics, such as in elastic jeans, usually use spandex as elastic yarn, but spandex strength is low, and it is easy to break after long-term wear and friction. Using PBT fiber instead of spandex as elastic yarn can effectively improve this situation. PBT fiber has a similar feel to wool, in the wool spinning industry can be interwoven with cotton, hemp and other autumn and winter clothing, but also an ideal imitation of down and filling materials.
